Persol approached Cadence NY for a short film opportunity, optioning then Cadence-represented director, Sharif Hamza to direct the ad spot. They wanted to vamp up the luxury eyewear with a "mystique" ascetic while staying true to their vintage style. I worked with Sharif to create a treatment deck centering on a writer going mad.
Pulling inspiration from psychological thrillers, True Detective and Secret Window, we centered on the typewriter trope, a source of both creation and obsession. It also features literary bad boy, Bret Easton Ellis.
